Born and raised in Iowa, Doug Collins’s Midwest roots show in his direct, affecting songwriting.  Back after being away from the music scene, Collins makes up for lost time with his energetic shows (both solo and with his crack band, the Receptionists), soulful singing, and hooky, emotional songs. Called "one of the most brilliant songwriters to emerge from the Twin Cities in nearly two decades" by southernminn.com, his newest EP, Davenport Iowa, includes the title track, which was voted finalist for “Best Song of the Year” in 2013 by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, along with the song Lesbian Wedding, which was voted the same honor in 2014.
