ChamberFest Dubuque’s 11th annual festival kicks off the month of June! As part of the Northeast Iowa School of Music (NISOM), ChamberFest Dubuque features a workshop and a concert. The group performing at the concert is an ensemble of world-class performers, hand-picked by Michael Gilbertson, that exist together only at this year’s ChamberFest.

ChamberFest is an annual event that was founded by NISOM alumnus and Iowa native Michael Gilbertson. Gilbertson studied at Juilliard and is a current professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He is also a world-renowned composer and was a 2018 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for his recent work entitled Quartet. Gilbertson started ChamberFest Dubuque because he wanted to give back to his community. Each year, ChamberFest Dubuque performs a benefit concert for NISOM. The 2019 ChamberFest Dubuque ensemble consists of Michael Gilbertson, Bridget Pasker on cello, Hanah Stuart on violin, David Fung on piano, and JIJI on guitar.

Don’t miss ChamberFest Dubuque’s appearance in IPR’s Cedar Falls Studios on Tuesday, June 4th at 1:00 PM. IPR’s Barney Sherman hosts Michael and his four fellow musicians for an hour of music. Tune in for their performance and hear Michael discuss his inspiration for founding the festival to benefit the Dubuque community.

To participate in ChamberFest Dubuque, Join Michael Gilbertson on Wednesday, June 5th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in Dubuque for a workshop unlike any other. Local musicians have the opportunity to meet the members of the ensemble, ask questions, and learn about their instruments. The workshop is free and open to all ages. The following evening, Thursday, June 6th at 7:00 PM in Clarke University’s Jansen Hall, Michael and his ensemble will perform a once-in-a-lifetime show with a champagne reception to follow. Ticket purchases for the concert not only give audience members a great performance in an intimate setting, but also benefit the music community. Proceeds from the concert “support NISOM’s mission to provide quality, affordable music education and enrichment in the Tri-State Area.” Don’t miss the unique and wonderful opportunities at ChamberFest Dubuque 2019!
