Bullock Delivered Papers To Montana Governor's Mansion

Aug 23, 2019

River to River's "Home State View" series helps us understand how the presidential candidates are viewed as leaders in the states they call home. Host Ben Kieffer interviews journalists who have spent years covering the candidates. We get the little-known details about each hopeful's history. Click the "play" button to listen.

Kieffer talks with Sally Mauk, host of Campaign Beat on Montana Public Radio about Bullock's rise in Montana politics, and changes she's seen in him now that he's on a national stage. Mauk says as gun control and climate change have become prominent issues in the presidential campaign, Bullock is voicing more support for measures to try to prevent mass shootings and less for the state's coal industry. She also tells us about how, as a kid growing up in Helena, Bullock delivered the newspaper to the Governor's mansion, a home he would eventually occupy.
