Board of Regents Efficiency Study

Matt Yohe
The Old Capitol on the University of Iowa, May 19, 2006.

The first of three public hearings was held today at the University of Iowa in advance of a comprehensive efficiency review by the Iowa Board of Regents.  The review is expected to generate $15-25 million in savings.

Regents President Bruce Rastetter says that, "A system-wide review of this type is critical to make sure that we don't have program creep across the three universities. That we aren't having duplication..Nothing is off the table."

Iowa Public Radio's Iowa City correspondent Dean Borg talks with host Ben Kieffer about how the study could affect everything from the liberal arts, to sports, to STEM programs at Iowa's public universities.
