It's the April meeting of the Talk of Iowa book club! Join Charity Nebbe and readers across the state as they explore Aldo Leopold's "A Sand County Almanac".

"A Sand County Almanac" was first published in 1949, but Aldo Leopold’s contemplative musings on conservation and land stewardship remain poignantly relevant.

On this book club edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe is joined by Leopold biographer Curtis Meine, environmental economist Silvia Secchi and wildlife biologist Jim Pease for a fresh look at this seminal text. Listeners from across the state also join the discussion.

Interested in joining the next meeting of the Talk of Iowa on-air book club? Our May reading is “Eligible : A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice” by University of Iowa Writer's Workshop graduate Curtis Sittenfeld. Pick up the book now, and join Charity and other expert readers for a discussion on-air on May 6th.

Guests include:

  • Curt Meine - Senior Fellow, Aldo Leopold Foundation and adjunct professor, University of Wisconsin Madison Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology
  • Silvia Secchi - associate professor, Department of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences & Public Policy Center
  • Jim Pease - associate professor emeritus, Department of Natural  Resource Ecology and Management at Iowa State University
