When you think about stunning formal gardens the images that come to mind might transport you to Europe. If you think about American gardens maybe you think of some of the grand estates on the east coast or gorgeous west coast gardens, where anything will grow.

Midwest gardens, Iowa gardens in particular, don’t get a lot of attention. However, Beth Cody wants to change that. She is a dedicated gardener who blogs at gardenfancy.blogspot.com and her latest book is "Iowa Gardens of the Past: Lost and Historical Gardens of Iowa: 1850-1980."
