On April 21, 2021, Carla and Chuck Offenburger celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

On July 24, 2021, Carla Offenburger passed away at the age of 62 after a 12-year long “dance with cancer,” as she described it.

Chuck and Carla Offenburger are one of the most beloved couples in the state of Iowa. For years, Chuck was known as the Iowa Boy, as the Iowa Columnist for The Des Moines Register. Carla did community relations for Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

For the last 21 years, they’ve been sharing their writing through Offenburger.com. Together they have done extraordinary things. They have always seemed to have boundless energy and enthusiasm, open hearts, creative minds and a deep love for Iowa.

In remembrance of Carla, host Charity Nebbe speaks with the Offenburgers about their love story, battling cancer and how to live life to the fullest.
