On this episode of Talk of Iowa, we check back in with some of the Iowans we first spoke with as the COVID-19 pandemic gained steam last spring.

It was just one year ago that the world changed, seemingly overnight. COVID-19 went from being a growing threat in other places to being a reality here in Iowa. To date, more than one-in-ten Iowans have been infected with the virus and more than 5,600 have died.

On this episode of Talk of Iowa, we look back at one year of coronavirus as vaccine efforts ramp up across the state. Host Charity Nebbe is joined by three Iowans who had COVID-19 early on in the pandemic, as well as Dr. Eli Perencevich and Des Moines Register columnist Courtney Crowder, who has been working to highlight the very human stories behind Iowa’s COVID-19 numbers.

Guests:

  • Nora Boerner, Iowa City
  • Val Swinton, Clarksville
  • Siobhan Spain, Des Moines
  • Dr. Eli Perencevich, professor at University of Iowa’s Carver College of Medicine
  • Courtney Crowder, Iowa columnist with the Des Moines Register
