Celebrate Spring By Making Your Own Maple Syrup

As the days grow warmer and the snow begins to melt, it's a great time to welcome the coming season with home-tapped maple syrup.

The growing season is almost here. And while new life isn’t sprouting yet, these below freezing nights and above freezing days create the perfect conditions for tapping maple trees to create tasty, homemade syrup.

On this episode of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe is joined by Katie Klus, naturalist at Hartman Reserve Nature Center in Cedar Falls to discuss the ins and outs of getting maple syrup from your own backyard. Later, Aaron Steil of Reiman Gardens joins the conversation to answer listener horticulture questions.
