ISU's first MacArthur Fellowship winner is a first-generation college student

The Associated Press's David Pitt starts off the program to update listeners on the spike in COVID-19 infections among Iowa school children. Host Ben Kieffer also meets Turkish poet and scholar Fahri Oz, who is part of the University of Iowa International Writing Program.

In the second half hour, Lisa Schulte-Moore of Iowa State University tells listeners about receiving a MacArthur Fellowship for her work building more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems. Then IPR's Tony Dehner shares some of his favorite tunes from this week.
