Hawkeye Sports And Iowa Election Laws

A Title IX complaint brought by female student athletes against the University of Iowa is expected to continue moving forward, despite the school's announcement that it will fully reinstate the women's swimming and diving program.

On Sunday, the Iowa Hawkeye’s Luka Garza became the all-time leading scorer in Iowa men's basketball history. In a game against Penn State, Garza surpassed the record set by Roy Marble. The Des Moines Register's Mark Emmert writes of Garza, “He has been consistently brilliant for the past two seasons.” Emmert joins River to River host Ben Kieffer to talk about Garza and the University of Iowa's recent decision to reinstate the women's swimming program.

Later on, Derek Muller unpacks some of the key provisions in bills at the Iowa Legislature that would change the state's election laws. Additionally, Muller gives listeners an update on the latest happenings in the Rita Hart and Mariannette Miller-Meeks case that is moving to the U.S. House of Representatives.
