House Republicans advanced a bill that would reduce the maximum time Iowans can receive unemployment benefits from 26 weeks to 16. Republican lawmakers in the Iowa legislature are proposing ideas to fill a shortage of teachers across the state but Democrats argue that a larger increase in state funding is what would help schools attract more educators.
