LISTEN: Hex Girls New Record "Pop Fluff" Is Out Now

Cedar Falls' Hex Girls held off on releasing their new album "Pop Fluff" at the onset of the pandemic last spring. Now, they're back and ready for Hinterland 2021.

Jog back to last March, a time that seems A LOT longer than a year ago. Hex Girls had just made the decision to hold the release of their album "Pop Fluff," after Hinterland 2020 was postponed and the rest of their album release tour was cancelled. COVID-19 cases were on the rise, and they just didn't feel it was the right time to put out a new record.

"We were trying to wrap it up right before Hinterland with the timeline for the vinyl release, and then with that postponement, we really felt like, 'let’s take a break. Let’s take a breather. Let’s find other creative ways to get people engaged',” lead singer and bassist Nick Fisher said. “It was really hard to cut through the noise with everyone being in isolation.”

“I mean, also, we couldn’t compete with toilet paper. They weren’t going to buy our album. You know, we know our place,” guitarist and vocalist John Fisher joked.

After a year long wait, they are releasing the record for digital download on Bandcamp for $10 and on vinyl for $20. The album is also on all major streaming services.

They are also IPR's April "Artist of the Month." Hear an interview with them on Studio One Tracks Friday, April 2 at 7 p.m.
