Mission Creek Festival Rescheduled For September
A "special edition" of the annual Iowa City festival focusing on music and literature has been announced for September 17-19.
"Mission Creek has always been agile, so we are very excited to realign our efforts toward a fall event in celebration of the festival's fifteenth year," said Andre Perry, founder of the festival.
Mission Creek would have gone on in early April, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused a change of plans.
The reformatted festival this fall will be scaled down somewhat, but will still feature some of the same musicians and writers that had been scheduled to appear in April. In addition, a few "special surprises" are promised.
Mission Creek will share the same weekend with the inaugural Refocus Film Festival, being presented by FilmScene, Iowa City's nonprofit movie theatre.
"While there is still a chance the public health situation could prevent us from launching these events, even in September, as cultural organizations, we think it's important to project hope: a goal for community healing through the arts," said Perry.
Mission Creek Festival is produced by The Englert Theatre in Iowa City. Find more information here.
