What’s more exciting than a new year with classical music? On New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1st, at 2 p.m., Iowa Public Radio will be broadcasting Orchestra Iowa’s “The American Rhapsody” concert recorded live on September 15, 2018.
Brucemorchestra celebrated its 11th Anniversary this year on the front lawn of Brucemore Mansion in Cedar Rapids, and it was a BIG hit.
“The American Rhapsody” features classics from Bernstein, Classen, and Grofé. Dr. Réne Lecuona, piano professor at the University of Iowa is featured on two Gershwin favorites.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Réne Lecuona is highly regarded for not only her performance accomplishments, but also her teaching abilities. She has performed throughout South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, the United States, and Carnegie Hall. Her students have received admission to and scholarships from institutions such as New England Conservatory, the Manhattan School of Music, the Eastman School of Music, and Northwestern University.
