A Native American Tribe Will Soon Be In A Canadian Courtroom Hoping To Prove Their Existence

The Sinixt tribe from northern Washington used to live in both Canada and the U.S., routinely crossing what is now an international border. But more than a half-century ago, their numbers in Canada dwindled to a point where the Canadian government declared them extinct.

In October, the Sinixt will take the unprecedented step of trying to reverse that extinction. The CBC’s Bob Keating has the story from British Columbia.
