After 30 Years Of Declining Crime, Will Recent Spike Earn Support For Trump's Law And Order Message?

President Trump has made public safety a cornerstone of his reelection campaign, saying that crime is rampant in cities around the country and that federal forces should be called to address it.

Here & Now‘s Jeremy Hobson talks to Richard Rosenfeld, criminologist and emeritus professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Missouri St. Louis, about what the crime statistics tell us, why it might be going up in some places, and if federal officers or the national guard are effective at bringing crime down.
