Northern New York Child Care Centers Struggle To Stay Afloat

In the past few years, the North Country of New York has been classified as a “child care desert,” with programs closing and few new ones opening.

Now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, over half of all child care centers in the region have closed. The current economic picture is grim for providers, and parents leery of sending their children as the costs of providing child care are mounting.
