I've just read an exceptional memoir, Come Back: A Mother and Daughter's Journey Through Hell and Back, by Claire and Mia Fontaine. Their story is heartbreaking and suspenseful -- I read it in one sitting past midnight. The writing is stunning, really transcendent in places.
"Claire marries young and ends up having to save her daughter from her husband, only to wind up having to save her again 10 years later, from her own self... The tranformation of both daughter and mother are really unlike anything I've read before. I can't recommend it enough. By the way, it's also pretty funny, which was welcome -- most memoirs like this are too unrelenting."
