Pollution, Racism and the Environmental Justice Movement

The term "environmental racism" originally referred to as the dumping of hazardous wastes in or near communities of color. It now means much more than that. NPR's Tavis Smiley takes a closer look at how the so-called "environmental justice" movement has evolved with Barry Hill, director of the EPA's Office of Environmental Justice, and Vernice Miller-Travis, co-founder and board member of West Harlem Environmental Action.
