Luck in America

The American myth says the United States was built with hard work and determination. And you can throw in a big dose of luck for good measure. We all admire Horatio Alger, but a lot of us have a large streak of Brett Maverick in us as well. Host Neal Conan and guests talk about the role luck has played in American life.

Guests:

Jackson Lears
*Author of Something for Nothing: Luck in America

Andy Beyer
*Horse racing columnist for the Washington Post
*Author of many books on handicapping, including Beyer on Speed
