Spohr Violin Concerto

Louis Spohr (SHPOR) lived at about the same time as Beethoven, but distinctly in the more famous composer's shadow. We're shedding some light on Spohr's music this hour with a performance of his Grand Nonetto later in the hour. First, we'll hear a short movement from one of his 15 violin concertos. The violinist is Ulf Hoelscher, joined by conductor Christian Frohlich and the Berlin Radio Symphony in the Adagio movement from Spohr's Violin Concerto No. 5. (CPO 999 067)
