Christmas in Europe

We hear selections from a twelve-hour marathon broadcast that took place on Sunday from Christmas concerts all around Europe. We stop in at four of the dozen live concerts: The Vienna-based "Art of Brass" playing the chorale preludes "Wachet Auf" and "In Dulci Jubilo" by J.S. Bach (Austrian Radio). The Hungarian Radio Children's Chorus sings an "Ave Maria" by Hungarian composer Miklos Kocsar (Magyar Radio). A Polish group called "Il Tempo" play a Magnificat for the Virgin Mary by a 17th-century Polish composer named Marcin Mielczewski , and, finally, two beautiful selections by the Danish National Girls Chorus, joined by the Copenhagen Young Strings: "Lo How a Rose," and the 18th-century Silesian folk tune "Wonderful is the Earth."
