Emersons at Aspen

Felix Mendelssohn's Second String Quartet, Op. 13, is a rich, lush piece. Scholars have pointed out parallels between it and Beethoven's brilliant late quartets--even though Mendelssohn was still a teenager when he wrote it. We'll hear it played by the Emerson String Quartet at the 2001 Aspen Music Festival. 32:25
