NPR's Andy Bowers reports on the latestdevelopments in the deadlocked presidential campaign. Last night's ruling bythe Florida Supreme Court that manual recounts could continue was seen as amajor boost for Vice President Al Gore's chances to become the 43rdPresident. But Gore's hopes took a downward turn today when the electioncanvassers of Miami-Dade County, the state's largest, announced they wouldabandon its recount because it could not meet the Sunday deadline.
