Most flowers travel thousands of miles each year  before being sold for Valentine’s Day.

On this edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe talks to  Richard Jauron,  Iowa State University Extension Horticulturist, and Dan Brabec, owner of Coe’s Flowers and Gifts in Ames about the process, care, and presentation of cut flowers in preparation for Valentine’s Day.

“Beauty is always  in the eye of the beholder, but what I tell customers is that you can go with the traditional roses for Valentine’s Day or you can go with the sentiment of spring with lots of mixed blooms and mixed colors,” Brabec said of creating the perfect Valentine’s bouquet.
