What's On Your Daily Soundtrack?

Name: Tony Dehner

Job: Production Assistant/Studio One Host (Sundays & Mondays)

What is the last thing you listened to today? Be honest!

I listened to a CD that The Michael Reed Band dropped off after their live performance in Studio One last Thursday.

What album have you been listening to lately?

I've been listening to "B-Room" by Dr. Dog. I've been in the mood for it since we've been playing his new live album a lot lately... and it's the only Dr. Dog album I own. Also, Wilco's live album "Kicking Television" because it's awesome.

What's your favorite song today?

Kind of generic but "Let It Be". My daughter is a Beatles fan now so I sing it to her before bed. She also likes "Blackbird" and "Yellow Submarine".

Who is your least favorite artist/song right now?

If you've seen the Patton Oswalt's "Signs You're Getting Older" bit he talks about how you don't hate any music when you get older. I'm in that boat. I don't hate any music, I just don't listen to things I dislike.

What is your current musical guilty pleasure?

It's kind of old, but the "Pitch Perfect" soundtrack. My wife and daughter sing "Cups" together a lot.

Matthew E. White's latest album "Fresh Blood"

What's your favorite new release from the last 30 days?

The new Matthew E. White album, the new Ryley Walker album or the new Modest Mouse album.

What was the last concert you attended?

Last weekend my wife and I went to The Wedge in Waterloo and saw Skott Green, Christopher the Conquered, Twins and Useful Jenkins. We missed most of Skott Green because our babysitter was late and then we had to leave halfway through Useful Jenkins because we are old.

What was your favorite concert you ever attended?

Phish at Alpine Valley in 2000.

How about your very first concert?

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers during their "Full Moon Fever" tour. Lenny Kravitz opened for them, but I didn't even know who he was at the time. They were at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.

Who is an artist you know you're supposed to like, but you just don't?

I don't particularly like Death Cab for Cutie, I just admire them. As a guitar player I feel like I should be into more stuff like Joe Bonamassa.

What type of guitar do you play?

I play electric, acoustic and lap steel. I'm in a band with some guys but we only play in my basement.

If you could be any musician for a day, who would it be?

Probably a musician that gets to play with a lot of different people. Like a Nashville session guitarist or one of those Motown house band guys.

George Clinton in the film "PCU"

What is the weirdest way you ever discovered an artist or song?

My friends and I discovered George Clinton (Parliament and Funkadelic) from the movie "PCU". Looking back, that isn't even a good movie.
