Whether very excited or fearful and upset, voter reaction to the results of Tuesday's election, when Republicans swept congressional and state contests and Donald Trump won the presidency, has been strong. During this hour on River to River, host Ben Kieffer debriefs on the results.
Dennis Goldford, professor of political science at Drake University and Flansburg Fellow for the Harkin Institute; Kelly Winfrey, an assistant professor at the Greenlee School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Iowa State University; and Tim Hagle, professor of political science at the University of Iowa, join the conversation.
Winfrey says that for voters who dislike the results, it's about more than just politics.
"It hurts," she says. "It's not just about political party. It has a lot more to do with what it symbolizes."
