Shows like America's Got Talent and YouTubevideoshave introduced us to many phenomenal young singers belting ballads like adult Broadway stars.  However, is it healthy for young performers to sing with such intensity?  How does hitting the high and low notes affect vocal cord development?

Speech-language pathologist Joy Hesse of the Iowa ENT Center joins the conversation to discuss how she cares for professional voice users.  Also Kristen Stanton, executive and artistic director of the Iowa Youth Chorus, and Drake University vocal performance major Eric Ferring weigh in on proper vocal technique.
