‘Tis the Season… For Ordering Garden Seeds

seed packets on display

For the seasoned gardener, seed catalogs have already begun to arrive in the mail.

You want to have those seeds ordered by late January. Lots of these companies sell to both home gardeners and commercial growers. - Denny Schrock

During this hour of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe talks with Denny Shrock, who heads Iowa’s master gardener program, and horticulturalist Richard Jauron about planning for spring. If you’re going to order seeds for your garden, Shrock says now’s the time to start looking.

“You want to have those seeds ordered by late January. Lots of these companies sell to both home gardeners and commercial growers. They start getting really busy around February and March.”

Shrock and Jauron also take listener questions during this episode of Talk of Iowa.
