J. Stephen Conn
Ten Commandments Monument at Courthouse Square in Mount Vernon, Indiana

While many see the Ten Commandments as a simple and powerful set of laws to live by; they are also a lightning rod for controversy in this country.

On this edition of Talk of Iowa, Charity Nebbe hosts a discussion on the Ten Commandments in Judaism and Christianity, in American and popular culture, in politics and courthouse lawns. Joining the discussion:  Robert Cargill and Diana Cates, of the Religious Studies department at the University of Iowa, and Dennis Goldford, political scientist at Drake University and author of The Constitution of Religious Freedom: God, Politics, and the First Amendment.
