June 4th marks Studio One's live monthly broadcast at The Basement venue of the Des Moines Social Club from 7-9 p.m. Iowa Public Radio's Mark Simmet is hosting the event and will be spinning Studio One's usual great mix of indie rock, alternative, singer-songwriters and more!

This month Studio One is excited to present a free show from Des Moines' rocksteady Latin group, Parranderos Latin Combo (PLC). PLC perform across Iowa and explore musical styles such as salsa, cumbia and samba. They recorded their debut album in Puerto Rico last year with Grammy award winning engineers, Ramon Martinez and Carlos Velazquez.  PLC is comprised of 14 musicians from South America, The Caribbean and the Midwest and is funded in part by the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. They will bring the heat to the airwaves around 7:30 p.m.

Come see how radio is made and meet the Studio One staff on Thursday, June 4th at The Basement!
