The program opens dramatically with Beethoven’s beloved “Pastoral” Symphony, which evokes the beautiful countryside including a boisterous thunderstorm that dissipates into one of the most famous melodies in the symphonic repertoire: the Shepherd’s Song. The program concludes with the rhythmic and exotic Capriccio Espagnol. Tune in on Monday, August 8 at 7 p.m. for this Symphonies of Iowa encore broadcast!
