Save a seat at your Thanksgiving table this year for Iowa Public Radio Classical, as we present a special broadcast featuring Orchestra Iowa's annual Brucemorchestra concert from 2013. This special will air on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, December 1, 2013 at noon.
This concert was held on September 8, 2013 on the beautiful grounds of the historic Brucemore Mansion in Cedar Rapids. Tim Hankewich directs the orchestra along with the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale, Coe College Concert Choir, and Mount Mercy University Choir in selections from Alexander Borodin's Polovetsian Dances. Prinicpal pianist Miko Kominami moves up front for Rachmaninoff's enduringly popular second piano concerto. The orchestra rounds out the concert with Tchaikovsky's magnificent Symphony No. 4 in F minor. This broadcast also includes behind the scenes interview from Tim Hankewich, Miko Kominami, and David Janssen, executive director of Brucemore.
