On Friday, April 26th at 2 PM at Iowa City's downtown Java House, IPR Studio One's Ben Kieffer will host a special hour of "Java Blend" with Dustin Smith & The Sunday Silos.

Ben Kieffer will chat with Dustin and his band to find out more about their career, and the band will also perform a live 50-minute set. This program is free and open to the public!

Dustin Smith & The Sunday Silos are an American folk-rock band from Des Moines, Iowa.

Born to performers, Dustin was raised in a home filled with music. In his late teenage years, he moved to New York City. There he studied music and formed relationships with other artists. It was at this point that he became certain he wanted to devote his life to songwriting, and his first album Summer Afternoon (2008) was created. After a few tours in the Northeast and the loss of his father, Dustin decided to return to his roots in Des Moines, Iowa. Upon arriving home, he began working on and recording Burgess (2009). In crafting this EP a band was formed.

As to acknowledge the newly established group, Dustin added "The Sunday Silos" to his name. Continuing to develop their sound, they returned to the studio to record their first full-length album as the band Dustin Smith & The Sunday Silos. The album Northerner (set to release in December 2012) was built by Dustin and the group from the ground up with precise craftsmanship, honesty, love, and a desire to reflect the environment that surrounds us.
