Iowa Public Radio’s January edition of our Iowa Arts Showcase opens 2013 with soprano, Sarah Jane McMahan, who shares background on her unusual journey to the opera stage and  details about her upcoming recital on January 6th for the Des Moines Metro Opera’s Des Moines Guild Chapter. Guest director Stanley M. Garner, talks about his unique take on the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre’s January presentations of Puccini’s classic, La Boheme, at the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids on January 18th and 20th. ISU's Dr. Donald Simonson and Randy Compton divulge a few Elizabethan secrets about the 48th Annual Iowa State University Madrigal Dinner scheduled on January 18th and 19th in the Great Hall at ISU’s Memorial Union in Ames. And music educator, Martha Kroese talks about the Metropolitan opera’s HD Live in Schools program currently being enjoyed by the Waterloo School District.
