Friendship Through World Travel: "All it takes is one person to open your eyes to the world"

Janna Graber never considered international travel until she met Iowa native, Melanie Zepeda.

Graber met Zepeda in a small college in rural Indiana, and she credits Melanie for her entire career as a travel journalist.

"A lot of us spend most of our lives within a circle of maybe an hour around our city, so we forget that the rest of the world is out there," Graber says. "When you have the opportunity to see how other people live, to appreciate some of the things that they appreciate...It just opens up your world, and you realize the world is just one big great backyard."

On this Talk of Iowa segment, host Charity Nebbe talks with Graber and Zepeda about their travels together and their lifelong friendship. Janna Graber is a Colorado-based travel journalist and TV producer, the author of two travel anthology books: Chance Encounters: Travel Tales from Around the World and Adventures of a Lifetime, and is currently a managing editor at Go World Travel Magazine. Melanie Zepeda is an elementary school principal in San Antonio.
