Football and Cello

Univeristy of Chicago

The story of Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick is widely known; an outstanding young athlete who died before his time.  But the very first winner of the Heisman was also from Iowa.  Host Charity Nebbe and biographer Brian Cooper discuss the life and times of Jay Berwanger.  Berwanger was the son of a blacksmith in Dubuque who almost didn't go to college.  He ended up attending the University of Chicago and became the greatest college athlete of his day.

Also, cellist Tony Arnone sits down with his cello and talks about a series of solo concerts he's preformed in unexpected places around Eastern Iowa.
