The Des Moines Metro Opera heralds in the return of Arias in April with performances from their 43rd Festival Season. The first broadcast features Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio on Saturday, April 2 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 at 11:00 p.m.

Mozart’s bittersweet romance tells the tale of the nobleman Belmonte and his quest to rescue his fiancé Konstanze and their two servants from the palace of Pasha Selim. Belmonte and his servant Pedrillo devise a plan, but things go awry after they accidentally wake up the guard mid-escape. All four fall into the hands of Pasha Selim and whatever fate he chooses for them. Tenor Ben Bliss portrays the role of Belmonte with soprano Amanda Woodbury performing as Konstanze, both making their Des Moines Metro Opera Mainstage debut.
