Many in Iowa know Dan Gable’s name as a part of wrestling legend. How much do we know about the man himself?
In his new book “A Wrestling Life: The Inspiring Stories of Dan Gable,” Gable writes the story from his point of view. In the book, he talks about his sister’s murder and its effect on his family. He also writes about his sole collegiate wrestling loss and how he misplaced his gold medal shortly after being crowned as the 1972 gold medalist at the Munich, Germany Olympic Games.
“My mom found it in my gym bag. Then she took it, hung it up in her house and didn’t let me have it back… It’s in my house now, but my wife doesn’t let me take it out very much. I might be thinking about something else and leave it somewhere,” he says.
