Do you believe the moon landing was faked? Do you think the “Great Recession” was orchestrated by a small group of Wall Street bankers?

50 percent of Americans believe in at least one conspiracy theory. Today on Talk of Iowa we find out why conspiracy theories are so easy to believe and so hard to disprove.

Our guests this hour include Kevin de Laplante, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Iowa State University, and John Johnson, Professor of History at the University of Northern Iowa.

"There is a lot of noise out there, a lot of chaos; and we're not comfortable with chaos," says Johnson. "We want an explanation, even if it's a nefarious one."
