Classical Music in the Afternoon March 19, 2012

Lynne Rossetto Kasper, acclaimed author and host of American Public Media's The Splendid Table, joins Jacqueline during the 3 o'clock hour to discuss her role in the upcoming The Art of Chocolate by the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre. In addition to a special presentation by Kasper,The Art of Chocolate features Cedar Rapids native Karen Brunsson and Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre Young Artists Channing Connell, Brian Kuhl and Andrew Wannigman in two unique one-act operas, Bon Appétit and Face on the Bar Room Floor.

At 2:15 p.m., violinist and concertmaster of the Des Moines Symphony Jonathan Sturm discusses his upcoming Lunch Unplugged performance, presented by Des Moines Downtown. The performance will feature music from Sturm's new CD, titled Fire and Romance, and includes pieces by Biber, Bach, Massenet, Wieniawski, Kreisler and Rachmaninoff. This Lunch Unplugged presentation will take place at noon on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Des Moines Civic Center's Temple Theatre. Tickets to the event may be purchased online.
