Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival visits IPR's Studios

On Monday, July 16th at noon, IPR’s Performance Iowa will bring you a taste of this year’s Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival, live from IPR’s Studios! Join us to hear Jacqueline talk with Artistic Director, Hunter Capoccioni, and listen to the ensemble perform selections from their 2018 program entitled “Raiders of the Lost Art.”

The mission of Cedar Valley Chamber Music is “to bring together Iowa Artists with musicians native to the State of Iowa.” This year’s program focuses on how “classical music is living archaeology” by bringing “composers of the past” and composers with more familiar names to audiences in the Cedar Valley.

The festival consists of four concerts in the Cedar Valley on July 14, 15, 18, and 22. Their goals during these performances include supporting music education, building strong community ties to the arts, celebrating the arts, and enriching the culture of the Cedar Valley.

Joining Iowa Public Radio Classical to perform music from their 2018 Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival program will be Hunter Capoccioni, Double Bass; Susanna Klein, Violin; Julia Bullard, Viola; Hannah Holman, Cello; and  Susan Keith Gray, Piano. They will be performing Gustav Mahler’s Piano Quartet movement in A Minor and three movements of Josef Labor’s Piano Quintet in E Minor, Op. 3.

Tune in on Monday, July 16th at noon to hear these marvelous pieces and learn more about this year’s festival!
