Buseum Brings History to Iowans

inside the bus

What makes Iowa, Iowa?  How did we get to be ‘us?’ These are questions that Michael Luick-Thrams, of the TRACES Center for History and Culture based in Mason City, set out to answer.

"I grew up in a very different Iowa. Iowa has changed," he says. "Moving forward, there will be more changes, and the questions is 'how thoughtful will it be?'"

This hour on Talk of Iowa, Luick-Thrams talks with host Charity Nebbe about his quest to engage Iowans in a conversation about how our past informs our future. He'll be bringing the history he's uncovered to Iowans all over the statewith the launch of his new bus tour. He'll be traveling the state in a converted school bus that contains exhibits about everything from family life to place names.
