2013's Top Classical CD's: Barney Talks w. Charity

Its' been a great year for classical CDs! At 10:30, Barney Sherman will share ten (plus one) of his picks of the year with Charity Nebbe on Talk of Iowa - and playing many more than ten on his show every afternoon. If you have any particular favorite classical CDs of the year, please let us know! Among those you'll hear are excerpts from Handel's "L'Allegro, Il Penseroso, ed Il Moderato" performed by the Cologne Chamber Choir led by Peter Neumann on the Carus label, Bach's Brandenburg Concertos performed by the Dunedin Consort led by John Butt on the Linn label, Caleb Burhan's "Evensong" played by Alarm Will Sound (on Canteloupe), Beethoven's Late Piano Sonata played by Igor Levit (Sony), Dvorak's Cello Concertos played by Steven Isserlis (Hyperion) and - pictured - Maria Schneider's "Winter Morning Walks," her settings of poetry by Ames-born, ISU grad Ted Kooser about his recovery from cancer. It was written for Dawn Upshaw, who sings on the CD, with Schneider conducting the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Tune in  to Barney's show every afternoon to hear what's next, including a few from Iowa artists! UPDATE: You can read Barney's complete list here.
